well, im just getin around to putin somethin up on this thing now...so im gona start by doin the reflect on last yr task if thats ok. ?
last yr...well well... i dont honestly remember much about it apart from we talked alot about
ballyclare in human geography. (sorry stef, had to mention it!) i definately enjoyed the human geography alot more than the physical. i just found it more interesting. i really enjoyed the population distribution and movement bit, like why people move in and out of cities, and where they move to, and what affects their choice? all that craic about resources and stuff. the way that people think really interested me... the urbanisation, counter urbanisation, sub urbanisation, spiral of decline and distribution of resources. the china case study wasnt too bad, but for the population distribution over space question it was definately easier to use NI.
i did enjoy our wee trip to the north coast. (see the pic! how technically talented am i?!?) it was good to have a bonding session and it definately helped me alot to understand the physical stuff that we covered in class. otherwise i think i wouldnt have had much of a clue about most of it! i liked writing up the fieldwork report and i would have to say that the yr14's did help me with that. esp the ones that were repeating and doing the exam with us. the techniques paper was actully quite fun, if thats possible. i found that because i had done the fieldwork myself that i could easily write about it, because i was able to imagine doing it again in my head. i got a C in january and repeated it in june and ended up with an A. i think i just knew what to expect more the second time round and there was no ridiculous questions about dot maps in june. to be quite frank i hadnt a clue what that was about during the exam in january! that perhaps, was a hole in my revision!
overall, i am glad i picked geography up for A level. (that is mostly Mr.M's fault!) tho after i picked it i was worried about not having GCSE. but i found i got into the way of it and actully did quite enjoy it. there were times when i could have seen it far enough and it did take me abit of time to get into the way of writing essays, but i look back with fond memories...
i think thats probably enough about the past for now...roll on yr14!
just as i go i would like to leave you with the legendary quote that i myself did come of with last year, it will never be forgotten...
"geography is
vaguely about the world"
what else is left to say???
over and out ;-) xo
